Good value vest Sep 02, 2008 This vest is a great value for the price. The wide cordura waist band and chest strap assure a good fit, impossible to obtain with most moderately priced vests that only have narrow straps for closure. A vest that doesn't fit well doesn't provide much support and your dog won't feel safe and comfortable in it. I use the vest on dogs that want to puppy swim, that is, try to swim head-up, front feet out of the water on every stroke. The vest gives them confidence and supports their rear end until they get the idea.
My only objection to this vest is the plastic D-ring for leash attachment. Of course it broke on first use.
Quality Dog LifeJacket Aug 08, 2008 I have a Plump BEAGLE that really doesn't like the water.
Nevertheless, I bought a MEDIUM OUTWARD Hound lifeJacket.
It is a quality product.
I would suggest a even more durable handle on the LifeJacket.
The handle is on the TOP of the LifeJacket so you can better
get your PET out of the Water. But if you have to do this constantly,
then I think the Cloth Handle that is there would wear - out.
Before you deceide on the size you need. MEASURE your dog.
I had to return the LARGE Outward hound LifeJacket.
That size is really made for LABS - Golden Retrivers - Doberman etc.
Just not a PLUMP Beagle.
safe and durable Aug 02, 2008 We have a 17 year old chocolate labrador who has swam his whole life. But this year, because he is now deaf, we decided to have him wear a life jacket. The jacket is durable, adjustable and extremely safe. It keeps him upright. He doesn't wobble from side to side. I would highly recommend this life jacket.

Good and bad May 15, 2008 My dogs love their jackets. They are water dogs (Vizslas) and good swimmers, but they know when they have their jackets on, they can just swim around and look for fish as long as they want. My only complaint with this product is the inferior stitching. We go through at least three jackets every year for each dog because they rip apart at the seams. I'm going to try another brand. But the concept is fantastic.

He still will not swim! Apr 30, 2008 When Max sees his jacket he knows it is time for water. Even in the middle of winter he gets excited if he catches a glimpse of it from the closet. When we are at the lake we put the jacket in the same place every time we come up from the water, and when he wants to go to the water he stands by the jacket and begs to have it put on.
The thing is, he still will not swim! Bulldogs are not swimmers (heavy body, little legs) so I am not surprised that he does not swim. But I have to honestly say, having the vest makes it so much easier to laugh when he falls out of the row boat or runs off the dock only to realize that lilly pads are not going to hold him up!
The one complaint is that the leash ring broke off the first time we used it (he's a strong runner.) We just tie the leash around the handle when we need it. Also, sand gets caught inside the vest, but we are careful to take it off as soon as possible and have not seen any skin irritation yet.
